Jake Paul criticizes boxers and Mike Tyson in controversial press conference ahead of upcoming fight

Jake Paul has been causing a stir again, this time by trolling boxers during a press conference ahead of his upcoming fight with the 58-year-old Mike Tyson. At the event, Jake took every opportunity to challenge fellow fighters to bet on Tyson defeating him, mocking them as he went. The social media star turned boxer seems to be playing the villain to hype up the match.

Jake Taunts Fellow Fighters

Paulfirst approached WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios and asked if he wanted to bet on Tyson. Barriosdeclined, and Jakequickly called him “you idiot” before moving on to the next fighter. When he reached Bruce Carrington, things got heated.

Jake: “How much do you want to bet?”

Carrington: “How much are you gonna lose?”

Jake: “The amount of time I take to take a dump is more than you’ve made in your entire life. Shut the f*ck up. How much do you want to lose?”

Carrington: “Whatever, man.”

Jake: “I’ve got a million right here. A million. You want to play? Put money on what you’re saying. Oh wait, Katie Taylor’s here. You want to bet that much? I’m not losing.”

Katie Taylor: “You wanna bet your bonus too?”

Jake: “Bet the bonus. I’ll send a contract too.

This was a low blow from Jake, considering his vast wealth. Carrington, only 27, is still working his way up in boxing and hasn’t made the kind of money Jake Paulis used to. It’s unclear whether Jakeis serious about betting more cash on top of the reported $40 million he’s set to earn for the eight-round fight with Tyson.

Eddie Hearn Criticizes Jake

Meanwhile, Eddie Hearndidn’t hold back his thoughts on Jake Paul. The boxing promoter referred to Jakeas “very average” as both a fighter and an expert. He explained that boxing is a sport where most begin training from a young age, and Jake, who started at 24, doesn’t quite measure up.

I’m a purist when it comes to boxing. I don’t want to see Tyson, at 58, in the ring. It’s dangerous. I don’t want to see Jake Paul beating Mike Tyson at 58,” Hearn said. “Mike Tyson was a heavyweight champion with speed and power. He retired 25 years ago, and when he did, he was washed. I’d love to watch it, though. It’ll be on Netflix. I’m saying Tyson’s gonna make $10 million for the fight.”

Jake’spress conference antics are part of his ongoing efforts to keep the boxing world talking as he builds up to what many feel could be a spectacle more than a serious fight. But one thing’s for sure—he knows how to grab attention.
